Day 6. Getting too close to time to leave

Well today we took it easy and not go out too early. Contrary to the norm it seem to be better later in the morning than early. We went to Kahekili and evidently it was the right place. There was a whole lot of snorkelers out there but by the time we left there was at least 5 different diving classes out there.

The vis was up and down as was the water. A little rockin' and rollin' but not too bad. Made if tough for pics though. We also ran into a huge cloud of plankton. Tried to get some pics of it but they were too blurry. But we floated there for a while just to watch them swim by. Some free floated while others looked like they had a micro sized fish pushing them along.

Today I took the telephoto lens which I haven't tried before. I don't like it as much as the wide angle but it did have some good qualities. If anyone out there who is looking at the Olympus TG1 or 2 but can't dive down to get closer to the fish this lens may be for them. It's really good for the "shoot down" shots from the surface. It also let me get closeup shots from a little farther away which is good for the skiddish fish on the reef.

This afternoon we headed up North. We haven't been up there since 02. Forgot how beautiful it is. Lots of amazing views. Here is some shots along the way.

We ended the day by heading to Lahaina for the Friday block party. There was a nice little area they had a small stage for musicians and dancers and some vendors and even a good size silent auction. We also took the candlelight tour at the Baldwin house. It's always interesting looking back in time. All in all another good day on Maui.
