Okay, here is a few more from this morning. The rest of the day was pretty good. The trades have not been around so it's been pretty warm. The car said it was 94. Thankfully most of the swap meet/ crafters fair was inside or in the shade. Lots of the usual junk booths but surprisingly there was quite a few very talented local crafters. I ended up getting two hand carved bone necklace pieces from two different artists and a carved Lono tiki from another one. Then it was off to Lahaina. Checked to see if the camera shop had a step down ring for my new lens that would replace the one I think is still sitting at home on my desk. Oh well, new lens will have to wait for February. Cruised Front St. for a while then it was off to the Hard Rock. Our crazy waiter ended up being from a town right near ours. Amazed him as much as us. Then finished the day heading up to the Honolua lookout only to find out we should went there this morning.

There was a whole herd of these cool little goatfish we came acroos a couple times while out there.
This Spotted Boxfish was in her own little nook. It was one of the few clear spots but she was too busy eating to pose for a shot. Some fish are just rude. LOL

There wasn't a whole lot of butterflies out today but this Fourspot strolled by. Also saw a few big Threadfin's like the one below.

Karen found a cleaning station with two of the biggest Hawaiian cleaner wrasses we've ever seen.

I know this little Bird wrasse was off center but it still looked kind of cool. Another one that was in one of the clearer areas.

This is a rotten pick but this Trumpetfish was huge. He was as big around as my forearm.
Well the first snorkel of the trip is under our belts. The conditions around the island seem to bad everywhere. Went to Kapalua and the best area was the area we normally don't go. It was really choppy and vis was pretty bad but once we got a 100ft or so it cleared some. You'll see from the pics all the stuff stirred up in the water. We were probably two of the first 6 or 7 people there. Most were just showing up as we were leaving after almost 2 hrs in the water. I felt sorry for the ones carrying snorkel gear. It was getting worse as we left. But like they say, "The worst day snorkeling is better than the best day working."
Did get to see a couple of the Fantail Filefish I wanted to see. Didn't realize how tiny they were. Good at ducking under coral too.

Big Whitemouthed moray that greeted us when we got in.
My first Fantail Filefish.
Cool little humu in real light colors.
Even with all the stuff in the water still got a decent shot of this Cornetfish.
This was probably the smallest Lizardfish I've ever seen.
Crown of Thorns starfish. Cool to look at but very bad for the reef. Especially one trying to recover.

Well that's a small taste for now not that I got a whole lot with today's conditions. The internet here is like molasses so I will get more up later. Time to get cleaned up and checkout the swap-meet.

Well here is the updated pic of the carry-on. It's in honor of a beautiful and truly amazing young lady who was taken from us way too soon. It wasn't just a loss to family and friends but a loss for the world. Some may have seen some of the pics from our trips with her in 2012 and 2013. She loved snorkeling and her honu. There will never be a day we see a honu and don't think of Nat.

Well it's time to fire up the blog once again. Two and a half days to go before that big plane wings us to our favorite place.

Got everything ready to capture my little and maybe not so little finny friends. Got a couple new toys to play with this year. The snorkel gear is packed and ready for launch. Have had a couple friends visit there recently and I'm hoping they put in the good word for us with the fish. One of my biggest things I try to do is find and photograph a species I haven't seen yet. Some reports I've received are pretty promising. Hopefully Sunday night the first round will be up. Still need to figure out where to go. I thinking an easy hop to Kahekili or Kapalua the first morning.

Okay, had to throw this in. My Sweetie wanted to get a new carry-on with hard sides and spinner wheels on it. Do you think this might just give away the reason for our visit when we get on the plane? Good thing school will be back in session. There shouldn't be a dozen 12 year old girls going, "Mom, I want one of those." LOL

Well hopefully this Sunday evening there will be some fish pics to enjoy.
